About the West Texas Big Bobcat Contest

Organized since 2008, the West Texas Big Bobcat Contest is known for its generous payouts and community atmosphere. With teams required to qualify their heaviest bobcat, along with additional jackpots and prizes, the event has become a must-attend gathering for predator hunters nationwide. In addition to financial awards, sponsors added value with door prizes, bonus awards, and exclusive gear giveaways throughout the contest season.

WTBBC hosts three 23-hour contests each year. In 2025 alone, the contest achieved remarkable milestones: 2,289 teams entered (combined across three contests); $526,470 in total prize money awarded; $4,487,490 in cumulative payouts since 2008. These numbers reflect not only the scale of the event, but also the strength of the predator hunting community and the dedicated sponsors who stand behind it.

The 2026 West Texas Big Bobcat Contest dates are officially set:

Each contest runs for 23 intense hours, testing teams’ strategy, fieldcraft, stamina, and equipment reliability in the demanding landscapes of West Texas. The 2026 season has already demonstrated impressive participation and prize pools.
