XTAR D26 1600S Review

The dive light XTAR D26 1600S is the upgrade version of XTAR D26 1600. Small but powerful, concentrated beam makes it perfect for exploration in cave and wrecks.

Diving instructor @delphel and his partners tested the dive light XTAR D26 1600S underwater under harsh conditions of Ural quarries, salt water of the Black Sea and transparent galleries of the Horde cave.

First, let’s see the parameters of this dive light.

Aluminum case with anticor mineral glass, looks good, has a feeling of a quality brand. Soft pleasant button with the possibility of locking.

The dive light was tested as the main one by screwing it to the handle of a Orcatorch goodman. It turned out ok, although it is too massive compared to the dive light.

Underwater the Xtar dive light is good. It’s a bright powerful beam. It is clearly visible in the daytime in the sun. Pierces muddy water well and shines far away, but the halo is clearly weak.

The working time in turbo mode is enough for two full dives of 60-80 minutes each.

Result:

XTAR D26 1600S has a very bright and tight focused beam which is great for signalling, as well as a quality housing. It is a good option for dive centers looking for a light to hand out to clients on night and Cavern dives. Robust and sturdy and with a 2hr burn time at max output is great value for the price.
