XTAR Launches 21700 5500mAh USB-C: Built for Longer Runtime and Easier Charging

Meet the new XTAR 21700 5500mAh USB-C battery, combining longer runtime, 12A continuous discharge and direct USB-C charging for professional lighting and outdoor gear.

XTAR has introduced the new 21700 5500mAh USB-C protected Li-ion battery, with 12A continuous discharge, up to 15A maximum discharge and direct USB-C charging.

The new model is designed for portable equipment where longer runtime, sufficient output and easier recharging all matter.

From Flashlight Battery to Portable Power Source

21700 batteries are already common in high-output flashlights, but their use is expanding into more portable equipment that needs higher energy and longer operating time.

That made it a natural choice for high-output flashlights. Today, the same demand for higher energy is appearing in more portable equipment: diving lights, headlamps, outdoor gear and professional devices.

At the same time, users increasingly expect charging to work the same way as the rest of their gear. A battery that can connect directly to USB-C becomes easier to manage when the equipment is used away from a dedicated charger.

5500mAh and 12A Continuous Discharge

The new XTAR 21700 is rated at 5500mAh, giving users more stored energy for longer operating time.

But in applications such as diving lights and tactical flashlights, runtime is only useful if the battery can also supply enough current under load.

This battery supports 12A maximum continuous discharge and 15A maximum discharge, combining higher capacity with the current capability needed by compatible higher-power equipment.

USB-C for Easier Recharging

The built-in USB-C port lets users charge the battery directly without relying on a separate slot charger every time.

Instead of always carrying a separate slot charger, users can connect the battery directly to a wall charger, car charger, laptop or power bank. A full USB-C charge takes about 3.2 hours under the specified charging conditions.

The built-in LED also shows charging status, so users can check whether the battery is still charging or ready to use.

Button-Top Design, Dimensions and Protection

The XTAR 21700 5500mAh USB-C uses a button-top positive terminal and measures Φ21.5±0.3 × 76.5±0.5 mm. These details matter because 21700 battery compartments can differ in available length, terminal contact and clearance.

The battery also includes protection against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent and short circuit.

Beyond Flashlights: More Uses for 21700 Power

Diving lights can benefit from the higher capacity during longer dives, where changing or recharging a battery is not practical. High-performance and tactical flashlights need both runtime and sufficient current output to support higher-power lighting.

For camping power setups and other portable equipment, direct USB-C charging makes it easier to recharge from a power bank, vehicle charger or other commonly available power sources when a dedicated battery charger is not nearby.
